Headteacher’s Welcome.
A very warm welcome to the St Mary’s C.E. Junior School where we support our learners to flourish into curious, aspirational, respectful and well-rounded individuals, ready to take the next steps into the world.
We are a happy, lively, caring school set in the heart of the Baldock community. At our school, the care your child receives starts as soon as they walk through our door. We believe that each step of your child’s education is as important as the one before and every child is encouraged to believe in themselves and each other by working hard, having pride in their work and achieving their dreams in order to succeed in life.
We are a school with a strong Christian ethos, which underpins our curriculum. St Mary’s C.E. Junior School has committed, enthusiastic and conscientious staff who plan carefully for the different learning needs and learning styles of the children in their care.
St Mary’s nurtures the skills, values and beliefs which children will need to become responsible citizens in the 21st Century through a broad and balanced curriculum. We work together to ensure a safe and secure environment through an enriching curriculum that engages and inspires them to become independent learners. Learning is enriched by a curriculum which children enjoy both in and beyond the classroom, which helps them grow academically, spiritually and emotionally. There are opportunities for residential trips and other educational visits.
We are an inclusive school and pride ourselves in raising awareness of equalities and fundamental human rights, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
There is a strong tradition of lunchtime and after school clubs provided by teaching and support staff. These clubs range from sporting to cultural and include football, rugby, cricket, ICT, orchestra, choir, cooking, gardening, to name but a few. Children within our Pupil Parliament make a positive contribution to the life of the school.
Central to our values is a commitment to work in partnership with parents to support children’s learning and well-being. In addition, we enjoy a close relationship with St Mary’s Church and St Mary’s Infant school, who share our school site.
This is just a snapshot view of what St Mary’s C.E. Junior School has to offer. If you would like any further information, please feel free to contact us and we would be delighted to take you for a look around the school.
