Maths Curriculum

Mathematics is one of the core subjects taught at St Mary's Junior School and is lead by Miss Scammell. Children at St Mary's are taught maths through a mastery approach using concrete resources as well as pictorial and abstract representations. Our maths curriculum is progressive and chunked into small steps of learning to ensure concepts are secured. All staff at St Mary's 'care' that our children enjoy maths and support them to 'believe' in themselves in order to 'succeed' in their learning. This is achieved by careful assessment and planning, and by interweaving our curriculum drivers throughout our maths curriculum.
