Reading for pleasure at home and school

Reading is a key focal point of the St. Mary’s curriculum. Without reading, vocabulary and comprehension, our children are not able to readily access other curriculum subjects, which is why it must be a priority for us all.

Shared reading is a great way to develop children’s language and communication and to boost their reading skills. Regular reading routines can offer lots of opportunities for learning during school closures.

The Importance of Reading!

As a parent, it is our job to provide an environment that encourages reading. It is not our job to teach reading explicitly (unless you want to!) but rather be a reading role model, provide books and enthusiasm!
