St Mary’s is a Voluntary Controlled School of the Church of England. However, the religion or denomination of children is not considered as a determining admission factor.
The majority of children are transferred at the end of their infant schooling from the adjacent St. Mary’s Infant School and meetings are held towards the end of the summer term for the parents of prospective pupils and the children visit the school to meet their new teachers.
Parents of children new to the area are invited to visit the school for an opportunity to meet the headteacher and see the school as a working unit prior to the admission of their children.
All admissions into Year 3 are administered through the Local Authority Administration admissions office. Packs and application forms are sent out in September of the year prior to admission. The school follows the County Admission Policy, which is updated each year and is able to take a maximum of 240 children – 60 in each year group.
