Year 3 Long Term Plan 2017-18

We have been writing a recount today using adverbials of time and the picture sequences that we created yesterday 🏖
Today we had a great English lesson. I demonstrated ed how to make a cup of tea and the children wrote instructions. We learnt the benefits of checking through our work, making sure we have included all steps. ☕️

Year 2 come up to explore their new school July 2017

Classroom activities

This week we are learning lots about 3D shapes. We created  ‘Top Trump’ style cards using their properties.
We are learning lots about 3D shapes. We used our knowledge of their properties (edges, faces and vertices) to make shapes during Maths
We are having great fun in Maths making 3D shapes out of straws and play dough to help us understand properties including vertices, faces and edges. Lots of messy learning!
We are sorting 3D shapes into groups based on their properties.

Dojo Certificates!

Author visit

We have been fortunate enough to have Jacqui Gray, author of My Magical Garden in to talk to Year 3. What a lovely experience!

History Week (Victorians)

To end the week we had a Victorian tea party, which was a lovely excuse for us to eat the fine foods we had made and play some good old fashioned parlour games like hunt the thimble and keeper of the keys.
Anna, the duchess of Bedford (1788-1861), one of Queen Victoria’s ladies-in-waiting, is credited as the creator of tea time. We thought this would be a good way to honour this  quintessential English tradition during our Victorian week.
